Tanya Hanna is a Partner in the firm's Private Client and Trusts Practice.

Tanya primarily focuses on estate planning including the drafting and preparation of trusts and wills, the establishment and registration of foundations and private trust companies and advising on and assisting with Probate matters.  She also provides advice on company law and regulatory compliance matters for a wide range of domestic and international clients. Her trust practice includes providing advice to trust companies on a wide range of  issues arising in the establishment of trust structures and in trust administration.

Recent engagements include:

  • The provision of estate planning advice including the drafting of a Bahamian will and trust to a high net worth Bahamian with foreign beneficiaries after liaising with foreign tax counsel.
  • Providing estate planning advice to a high-net-worth international family, including preparing Bahamian wills, enduring powers of attorney and health care proxies and advising on a long-term structure for succession planning purposes including drafting various estate planning vehicles such as foundations and private trust companies for the structure.
  • Advising a bank on trusteeship changes to their pension plan including assisting with the drafting and finalization of all relevant documents.
  • Regularly providing Bahamian trust and company law advice to international law firms in connection with international structures involving non-Bahamian and Bahamian individuals
  • Acting for a high-net-worth Bahamian on an application to the Probate Court for a grant in a complicated estate which involved, among other things, advising on various potentially contentious issues.
