Overview

Heuking is a name synonymous with competence. They are one of the major commercial law firms in Germany. With about 450 specialized lawyers and tax advisers represent the interests of national and international clients. Their client list includes medium-sized and large German and international companies in all areas of the manufacturing industry, as well as trade and service industries, associations, government and public-sector organizations, and individual clients.

The firm has eight offices across Germany. In addition, they work closely with partner firms in all of the key global markets.

Their legal counseling is based on substantial legal competence, excellent education and continuing legal training, extensive specialization and a comprehensive knowledge of specific industry sectors. Experienced Partners and carefully selected Associate Lawyers develop innovative solutions to complex legal problems. The firm's culture values entrepreneurial thinking on behalf of their clients, efficient and cost-effective work, and strong personal dedication. At the end of the day, their Clients' success is also their own.

Cross-border and cross-sector knowledge combined with a deep understanding of business reasoning makes it possible for them to provide clients with wide-ranging support in their negotiations and business decisions. This also applies to legal advice on company structure, business risk management, negotiation and negotiation tactics, training, crisis and insolvency counseling and corporate finance matters. The early and timely legal advice they provide enables companies to function in a legally secure manner. If conflicts arise, they seek innovative resolution avenues, for example, through ADR and mediation.

The EUDI Wallet Is Coming: What Companies Need to Prepare Now for Digital Identity

With the adoption of the eIDAS 2.0 Regulation, the legal framework for a Europe-wide unified digital identity infrastructure has been established. At its core is the introduction of the European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet. While Member States are obligated to provide corresponding wallet solutions by early 2027 at the latest, the specific design at the national level is currently in a decisive implementation phase. In Germany, a ministerial draft for a Digital Identities Act (Digitale-Identitäten-Gesetz – DIdG) has been presented, which is intended to set the key parameters for the provision, use, and regulatory integration of the wallet...

“Clarification” of the External Ownership Ban – Bundestag Passes Tightening, Bundesrat Halts Legislation for Now

The intensive debate in recent months regarding the permissibility of investments by financial investors in tax advisory firms which do not have the respective professional qualifications (we reported) has taken a significant turn in the legislative process. While the original ministerial draft and the cabinet draft were still considered comparatively restrained, the German Bundestag has now followed the recommendation of the Finance Committee and adopted an explicit “clarification” of the external ownership ban. Synthetic Diamonds are not Diamonds

HEUKING, represented by Dr. Georg Jacobs and Marc Dümenil, secured a refund of the purchase price for synthetic diamonds in proceedings before the Essen Regional Court, Case No. 12 O 374/25. Our clients purchased jewelry from an Essen-based jeweler containing 42 stones described as “brilliants.” In reality, these were synthetic, i.e., artificially manufactured stones with a significantly lower market value than natural diamonds, also known as mined diamonds. The jeweler had not disclosed, either before or during the conclusion of the sales contract, that the stones were artificially manufactured and synthetic...
