Profile

Tiffany deGruy is a trial lawyer who enjoys all aspects of managing and trying high-stakes complex and mass litigation nationwide.

She handles a diverse range of cases, including mass torts, environmental toxic torts, e-commerce, high-stakes, “bet-the-company” business litigation, commercial disputes, matters arising from federal fraud investigations under the Federal False Claims Act and qui tam whistleblower actions, and contract and employment-related disputes.

Much of Tiffany’s practice focuses on coordinating and managing mass litigation and high-exposure individual matters. She enjoys organizing the moving parts of litigation and uses emerging technology solutions to make the day-to-day management of cases and coordination among litigation teams more efficient. Tiffany is a member of Bradley’s AI team and is on the cutting edge of how clients can leverage AI to improve case outcomes while maintaining defensible litigation positions. Building from those solutions, she enjoys digging in and creating solutions to help clients efficiently navigate the inherent complexity of large-scale litigation.

As a member of many national counsel teams, Tiffany has represented clients in mass litigation across the country. In these cases, she has taken and defended fact and expert depositions, managed massive multi-forum document discovery, selected expert witnesses, drafted key motions and briefs, argued motions, and tried cases before juries.

Tiffany partners with her clients to approach the challenges of litigation in efficient and creative ways. For many years, she has used these skills to help a major facilitator of online travel reservations respond to cases across the country. She served as discovery and trial counsel for this client in a two-week trial securing a defense judgment. She also regularly advises clients on matters related to pre-litigation, including assisting healthcare providers with legal issues that arise from the daily operation of healthcare facilities.

Tiffany is the former head of Bradley's Women's Initiative and served on the firm’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee and Recruiting Committee. She also is a leader nationally within the American Bar Association Litigation Section.

In addition, Tiffany is deeply involved in her local community and serves as president of the board of directors for One Roof, a nonprofit focused on ending homelessness, on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Alabama Appleseed, a nonprofit working to confront unjust systems in Alabama through research, bridge building, and advocacy, and past secretary of Momentum, nonprofit leadership organization focused on female leadership development.

Tiffany has an active pro bono practice, believing that part of the obligation of this profession is to use your voice for those who otherwise would be unrepresented. She represented an inmate on Alabama death row for over a decade, securing a favorable ruling from the federal judiciary, and has assisted indigent clients in avoiding eviction and defending contract disputes. Tiffany also heads Bradley’s partnership with the Birmingham YWCA in providing free legal services to obtain protection from abuse orders for those experiencing domestic violence.

Tiffany has received numerous awards, such as the ABA Litigation Section Public Service Award, the Birmingham Business Journal’s Leaders in Diversity award, and was named one of Birmingham’s “Top 40 Under 40” business leaders.
