Profile

Tara possesses an understanding of client needs from both legal and business perspectives and works as a strategic problem solver seeking to achieve business results in complex regulatory environments. She advises clients facing litigation, mass arbitration, and regulatory risk from consumer claims, regularly defending against claims involving various provisions of the Bankruptcy Code, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), state and federal privacy and data security laws, and claims involving false advertising and unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices.

Tara has significant experience helping clients develop and enhance internal policies and processes to ensure compliance with federal and state consumer protection laws. She routinely assists clients in implementing TCPA policies and procedures and ad hoc changes necessitated by shifting regulatory guidance, rulemakings, and orders. She also advises clients on matters involving the acquisition, use, and sharing of consumer data, including personally identifiable information and financial information, under various state and federal laws. Her work includes advising on use of AI, machine learning, and data analytics in risk underwriting modeling and other modeling for potential use in consumer lending, consumer financial services, and insurance, including analysis and advice on how to explain AI algorithm operations to applicable regulators.
