Stephen Ross focuses his practice on complex commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing, and corporate formation. He regularly negotiates loan agreements, notes, mortgages and other loan documents on behalf of borrowers and lenders with an emphasis on complex commercial construction loans. Steve also negotiates purchase, leasing, and operating agreements, as well as various other instruments related to real estate financing and development on behalf of borrowers and lenders.

Steve's prior representation of a variety of national banking institutions includes the recent closing of a one hundred fifty million dollar construction loan for the development of a warehouse and distribution center. He also has experience guiding major developers in negotiating the acquisition, financing, and disposition of multifamily developments valued in the tens of millions throughout the United States.

Steve values a holistic approach in representing his clients. Whether they are borrowers or lenders, purchasers or sellers, he brings the knowledge that he has gained representing both sides to every subsequent representation that he undertakes. Steve places an emphasis on clear and effective communication with his clients. He ensures that they have a solid comprehension of the various issues pertinent to each transaction, both specific and general, as a means to successfully navigate the unique pitfalls inherent to any given deal.

During law school, Steve was a member of the Corporate and Business Law Association and the Law Review. With a passion for volunteering and pro bono work, he was also involved with Student Legal Relief, a group focused on raising awareness of social and legal issues impacting impoverished communities.

In his personal time, Steve enjoys walking, and playing tug of war with, his rescue dog, Sophie. He also likes to explore new restaurants throughout the city of Chicago with his family. Whenever possible, he engages in international travel with his wife to taste new cuisines throughout the world with a goal of visiting all seven continents.
