Profile

Stanley Blackmon is an experienced litigator whose practice spans trial and appellate matters across a wide range of industries and substantive areas.

Stanley has deep appellate experience. He has briefed and argued cases before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh circuits and in Texas’ intermediate appellate courts. He also has handled appeals in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Tenth, and D.C. circuits, as well as in appellate courts in Alabama, Texas, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Maine. Stanley’s appellate background frequently brings him into trial teams as an embedded “appellate lawyer at trial,” where he briefs and argues dispositive motions, Daubert, Frye, and in limine issues, and addresses complex evidentiary and legal questions as they arise. He also ensures preservation of appellate issues throughout trial.

Stanley’s work continues after the verdict. He has substantial post-trial experience and has helped clients secure successful outcomes through post-verdict and post-judgment motions — including helping to obtain a JNOV that set aside a $28 million plaintiffs’ verdict in a product-liability case in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

In addition to his appellate practice, Stanley litigates cases across the substantive spectrum, including product liability, pharmaceutical matters, noncompete and trade secret disputes, commercial breach of contract, construction litigation, wrongful death, medical liability, fraud, and securities fraud. His practice ranges from single-plaintiff cases to large-scale mass tort and multidistrict proceedings. His appellate experience informs his approach throughout, enabling him to “begin with the end in mind” and position cases for successful resolution from the outset.

Before joining Bradley, Stanley clerked for the Hon. Carl E. Stewart of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (2015-2016).
