Rita Hullett is a senior attorney in the firm’s Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Practice Group with more than 30 years of experience in Chapter 11 reorganizations, out-of-court workouts, and creditors’ rights matters nationwide. She has represented Chapter 11 debtors, official unsecured creditors’ committees, liquidating trustees, secured lenders, and creditors in complex restructurings, including matters involving hundreds of millions of dollars in funded debt and multi-state operations. Rita brings a strategic, business-focused approach to distressed situations, drawing on a broad transactional background that includes complex corporate and real estate transactions, commercial contracts, § 363 sales, secured financing, and corporate governance developed across multiple industries and jurisdictions.

Prior to joining Bradley, Rita was acting general counsel for a multinational company with coal mining, land, and heavy equipment operations in seven states and abroad. In this role, she structured the acquisition of distressed assets and operations, including purchases through § 363 sales and liquidations, procured secured financing and revenue bond transactions, reviewed and negotiated commercial and real estate contracts, and counseled board members and executives on corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

In addition, Rita serves on a panel of Subchapter V trustees for the Northern District of Alabama appointed under the Small Business Reorganization Act providing oversight to debtors in possession, facilitating negotiations with creditors and development of debtors’ plans of reorganization and assisting in the claims resolution process.
