Profile

Riley McDaniel concentrates his practice on high-stakes and appellate litigation throughout the federal and state court systems. He has experience at all stages of litigation in cases that vary in size from single-party disputes to mass-action litigation.

Riley regularly assists clients with legal strategy, motion practice, and appeals. He has assisted with appeals at the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh, Ninth, and Eleventh circuits and in appellate courts in Alabama and Wisconsin. He also has assisted as an “appellate lawyer at trial,” responsible for briefing dispositive motions, Daubert and Frye motions, motions in limine, and post-judgment motions; handling evidentiary and legal issues arising over the course of trial; and ensuring that appellate issues are preserved.

Substantively, Riley has experience handling product liability, toxic tort, pharmaceutical, healthcare, commercial, and trade secret matters. A few of his representative matters include:

  • Part of appellate team at trial for Monsanto Company in two multi-plaintiff trials in Washington state court involving alleged injuries from PCB exposure.
  • Defense verdict on breach of contract and specific performance claims in a bench trial involving the $100+ million sale of a partially completed nuclear power plant.
  • Representation of Estate of Harper Lee in litigation concerning the stage rights to To Kill a Mockingbird.
  • Stay of removal and grant of petition for review in Eleventh Circuit appeal for pro bono client concerning Board of Immigration Appeals’ order in removal proceedings.

Before joining Bradley, Riley received his J.D. (with honors) from Emory University School of Law, where he was a managing editor of the Emory Law Journal. Riley graduated from Auburn University with a B.A. in Political Science (magna cum laude).
