Profile
Ricardo Villanueva is a partner in the corporate/commercial law department of Garrigues' Bilbao office with over 16 years' professional experience. He specializes in corporate law and commercial contracts, mergers & acquisitions (M&A) and insurance and pension funds.
In the corporate law and commercial contracts area, he regularly provides legal advice to some of the leading local companies, as well as to international clients, operating in all sorts of industries, while serving in some cases as secretary or vice-secretary to their corporate bodies.
Ricardo has also participated in a large number of M&A transactions of particular importance in the region, highly varied, advising buyers, sellers and partners, both national and international.
In this respect, Ricardo advises his clients at all stages of the transactions, in their design and structuring, in the coordination of due diligence processes, and in the drafting and negotiation of the transaction documents.
He also has extensive experience in the insurance and pension funds sector. He regularly advises insurance companies, pension fund managers and the leading EPSVs which operate in the Basque Country, in which respect he holds office as secretary and vice-secretary of their managing bodies in some cases. Ricardo has participated in some of the most relevant transactions performed in the insurance and pension funds market in his geographical area.
He lectures in Corporate Law at Deusto Business School (Universidad de Deusto), teaching classes to students on the Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Administration that lead to the separate Financial Analyst Basics qualification.
He has collaborated as lecturer on the Executive Master's Degree in Business Law course run by Centro de Estudios Garrigues.
He also speaks at seminars and conferences organized by companies and specialist centers.
Ricardo is a member of the Gipuzkoa Bar Association.
