Piergiorgio Picardi specialises in banking and financial law and has gained wide experience in providing legal advice on complex financing transactions of major market significance.

He is involved in a wide range of transactions, including: real estate finance, corporate finance, acquisition finance, leveraged buy-out, syndicated loans, cross-border financing, public or subsidised finance (including financing backed by public guarantee), intra-group finance, debt assignments and sales, debt restructurings and corporate crises as well as bond or note issues. In particular, he advises both lenders (banks, public financial institutions, credit funds and other qualified entities), funded parties and their sponsors (corporates, multinational groups, real estate and private equity funds). He also gained experience in the field of corporate law working in the firm’s M&A department.

Prior to joining Gianni & Origoni in 2007, Piergiorgio gained experience in the field of structured finance and project finance working at the London office of a leading US law firm.

Since 2021, Piergiorgio has been listed in the prestigious international directory “The Legal 500” for the sector “Banking & Finance”, first as a Rising Star and later as a Next Generation Partner.

After graduating in Law from the University of Rome "RomaTre" in 2006, Piergiorgio attended several master and specialisation courses, including those at the Academy of American and International Law in Dallas (Texas, USA) and at the Sapienza University of Rome.

He is a member of the Italian Bar.
