Profile
Nuno is a senior counsel in the Employment practice. With more than 30 years' experience, he has advised clients in a wide range of sectors, including rail, road and air transport, pharmaceuticals, oil, energy and natural resources, postal distribution, telecommunications and large-scale retail.
He is one of the specialist lawyers in Portugal with proven experience and knowledge in all aspects of collective labour relations in many different sectors. His experience includes both direct negotiations and the resolution of collective disputes (conciliation, mediation and arbitration) under all existing types of collective bargaining instruments.
Nuno has been awarded the title of Lawyer Specialising in Labour Law by the Portuguese Bar Association.
He was a lawyer (1987-1998) and later (1999-2001) Deputy Director of the Social and Labour Affairs Department of the CIP - Confederation of Portuguese Industry. In these roles, he represented the Confederation in Portuguese and EU tripartite social dialogue and consultation bodies.
Nuno was a member of the CES - Economic and Social Council in the capacity of Employer Arbitrator, for the purposes of compulsory and necessary arbitration, and for the arbitration of minimum services in strike situations. He held this position for the 2015-2018 term.
Since 2019, he has been on the list of presiding arbitrators within the same institution.
