Profile

Mayte Sanchez is a Partner and co-leads the Administrative & Contentious Law and Arbitration & ADR practices at Morgan & Morgan. She also plays a key role in the firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Constitutional & Human Rights practices. She has over 15 years of experience representing corporate clients and government entities, both domestic and international, in commercial, civil, and administrative litigation, demonstrating exceptional skill in safeguarding her clients' rights and interests.

Mayte is an expert in arbitration and mediation, both Ad-Hoc and under the rules of institutions such as the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the Panama Conciliation and Arbitration Center (CeCAP), and the Conflict Resolution Center (CESCON). Her practice also encompasses experience before civil and administrative courts, strengthened by an insider's perspective of the judicial system gained from having served within the civil and contentious-administrative jurisdictions.

Notable cases include representing a company in an international arbitration under an International Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA) with a favorable award; defending a Free Zone Fuel Administrator in an arbitration related to port infrastructure construction; and representing the Republic of Panama in its first arbitration under the Central America-Panama Free Trade Agreement, achieving a successful outcome. She was also part of the team that secured the annulment of an ICC arbitration award in favor of the Port Authority of Ecuador, setting a precedent at both national and international levels. Additionally, she has obtained favorable judgments against the State in administrative-contentious proceedings and defended banking and insurance entities in regulatory and administrative enforcement matters.
