Luís Pinto Monteiro is a Counsel at the Department of European Law and Competition Law.

Throughout his career, he has worked actively in the area of European Law and Competition Law.

Before joining Garrigues, Luís Pinto Monteiro worked at the European Law and Competition Law Practice Area of PLMJ for 13 years. He began his career as a trainee at Morais Leitão & Galvão Teles (now MLGTS), where he worked from 2001 to 2003. In 2003, Luís Pinto Monteiro became a legal adviser for the Ministry of Justice and in 2004, he became a legal adviser for the Office of the Secretary of State for the Presidency of the Cabinet.

In 2012, Luís Pinto Monteiro was seconded to the legal department of Nestlé Portugal, S.A for a 9-month period.

From 2009 to 2013, Luís Pinto Monteiro was a guest lecturer at the Portuguese Catholic University, Faculty of Engineering in Lisbon, where he taught the Law modules in the courses Business Intelligence and Information Systems Security for Master's and Postgraduate students.

In school year 2007/2008, he was a guest lecturer at the Higher Institute of Business Communication- Licenciate in Marketing Management (Company Law).

Member of the European Association of Law and Economics; (ii) Member of the Portuguese Association of European Law (APDE); (iii) Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2004; (iv) Official Agent of Industrial Property; (v) Authorised representative of the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM); (vi) Chairman of the Board of the General Assembly of Empor - Importação e Exportação, S.A.
