Profile

Technical, strategic U.S. and worldwide patent protection

John Jansky helps corporate and university clients obtain U.S. and worldwide patent protection, ensuring the protection is tied to actual business value. He also assists with intellectual property (IP) portfolio management, including analyzing freedom-to-operate issues and developing personalized IP strategies with a cost-conscious perspective.

John leverages his technical background to protect business assets, with specific experience in various technical fields including:

  • Medical devices such as interventional radiology, radiotherapy, respiratory, dermatology, ultrasound and implants
  • Dental products such as wedges, matrices, etc.
  • Camera/imaging systems
  • Electric power tools
  • Power machines
  • Microfluidics
  • Software

Naturally curious and excited to learn about his clients' inventions, John is eager to strategically think about the best ways to protect them-especially in alignment with business goals. He has industry experience working as an engineer for an orthodontics manufacturer and as an analyst for a biopharmaceutical manufacturer. Before becoming an attorney, John was a patent agent at Quarles, helping obtain U.S. and worldwide patent protection for various inventions.

Aside from his industry and other work experience, John has technical experience in analog circuit design (including analog ICs), signal analysis (signals and systems), biopharmaceutical analysis (e.g., microfluidic chips, HPLC, ELISA, SDS Page) and bioinstrumentation (e.g., ECGs).
