Jason is an experienced corporate, land, and oil and gas lawyer with over 25 years experience. He practices corporate and commercial law with a particular emphasis on land, energy, and oil and gas transactions. Jason works with public and private companies in a wide range of industries, including transportation, energy, natural resources, and midstream operating in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Jason has assisted clients of all sizes in a wide range of land projects in Western Canada and has extensive knowledge and experience with the operation of Land Registry's having previously acted as in-House Counsel to the Saskatchewan Registrar of Titles. Jason regularly acts for one of Canada's largest railways and has been lead counsel on hundreds of land acquisitions and dispositions. His land practice encompasses a wide range of services including environmental, land use, subdivisions, title rectifications and Indigenous land matters.

Jason provides assistance to upstream oil and gas operators of all sizes both domestic and international in the preparation of sale agreements, title reviews, freehold lease pre-drilling opinions, tenure confirmation, unit opinions, and drafting and interpreting of energy and oil and gas agreements, rectification of title issues, offset analysis and enforcement, and day to day operational guidance.

During his practice he has cultivated a profound understanding of mineral and royalty rights and assists land companies, financial institutions, trustees, personal representatives, beneficiaries and freehold landowners with the administration of estates, obtaining vesting orders, resolving royalty disputes and completing mineral title rectifications in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

* Counsel to a large federally regulated railway on a mine expansion project in the Province of Saskatchewan.
* Counsel to a major upstream oil and gas company on a 1 billion dollar plus horizontal well project in the Province of Manitoba and Saskatchewan including the preparation of hundreds of pre-drilling horizontal well opinions and unit opinions.
