Jamie Smith is a widely recognized corporate attorney experienced in business transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, succession planning, crisis management, formation and financing of start-up and early stage companies, and advice regarding implementation of strategic business initiatives. Jamie's clients include entrepreneurs, family businesses, public and privately held companies, and nonprofit corporations. In many instances, Jamie serves as outside general counsel for clients, personally servicing their corporate and transactional needs while identifying and involving specialty practitioners as needed.
Jamie also mediates disputes, having trained at Pepperdine's prestigious Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. His dispute resolution practice principally focuses on contested business and family "business" matters. He is an advocate for "early mediation," when appropriate, to explore settlement of disputes before significant legal fees and highly-charged emotions become barriers to resolution.
