Profile
Sean C. Griffin litigates complicated contract disputes, many of which involve allegations of fraud. He represents various organizations-including government contractors, transportation companies, and law firms-in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and around the country. Additionally, as an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), he helps clients establish and maintain data security, respond to data breaches, and litigate privacy cases. Applying his unique experience as a former Department of Justice trial attorney, Sean litigates government contract claims, defends False Claims Act litigation, and responds to state and federal subpoenas.
After graduating from Columbia University School of Law, Sean clerked for the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. After his clerkship, he worked as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Division, where he handled commercial litigation trials and appeals as well as government contract and construction litigation. Sean serves as Editor of Dykema's Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Blog, The Firewall, and is frequently called on to speak and publish on legal issues in the privacy arena.
