Profile

'Sina Sipasi is a Partner and Heads LEX's Energy and Natural Resources Practice Group, with over two decades of experience advising on complex transactions across the mining, oil & gas, finance, and infrastructure sectors. Sina has contributed to mining policy dialogues between the Federal Government and stakeholders in the mining sector and have assisted the Government in formulating policies for the sector. He has been involved with the mining sector for about two decades and has advised the Federal Government of Nigeria on mineral law and policy.

Sina Sipasi is recognised as a leading mining lawyer in Nigeria. His expertise in this area covers legal, regulatory and policy issues as well as commercial, fiscal and environmental matters arising in exploration, mine development and operations. He played a key role in shaping the legal, regulatory and commercial framework for mining in Nigeria, and has since remained a prominent figure in the development of Nigeria's extractives sector.

Sina has led numerous high-value energy transactions. Notably;
Reviewed a drilling rig lease agreement and an agreement for the hiring of drill crew on behalf of a gold exploration company.

Advisory services for the acquisition of Malele-Gobirawa Gold Project and the Bukuyum Gold Project

Advised a major nuclear power company on change of control issues relating to the acquisition of an equity interest in the offshore parent of a Nigerian company that held uranium licences.

Assisted with the establishment of two of the largest exploration and mining companies in Nigeria

Advised a Canadian mining company on a proposed acquisition of controlling interests in several exploration licences in relation to a lead-zinc project in eastern Nigeria

Advised a Chinese company in the acquisition of Nigerian mining leases. Work done included drafting and negotiation of shareholders' agreement, Memorandum and Articles of Association, advising on the mining sector regulatory framework and the acquisition process for mining leases.
