Profile
Justin E. Doop is a Patent Agent in the firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group. Justin's practice focuses on all aspects of patent prosecution, assisting clients with preparing and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications with an eye towards obtaining patent protection that aligns with and advances a client's unique business objectives. Although he has practiced as a patent agent throughout the bulk of his career, Justin also assists patent practitioners with matters outside of patent prosecution, including areas involving intellectual property litigation, clearance, and freedom to operate analyses.
Justin's core background is in the field of chemical and biological engineering, but also regularly assists with obtaining patent protection for technology in the mechanical and design realms. He has broad experience in preparing, filing, and prosecuting utility and design patent applications in the chemical and mechanical sectors, comprising technology related to process engineering, life sciences, medical technology, and consumer products. Supplemental to utility patent procurement, Justin has a broad knowledge of domestic and international design patent prosecution and registration. By remaining continuously involved in the design community, Justin has acquired an acute understanding of U.S. design practice and continuously provides insight regarding ongoing changes to the practice.
Some specific examples of the technology Justin has obtained patent protection for, and has assisted on advising clients on, include chemical engineering processes involving CO2 recovery systems, medical bandages, trucking equipment, aquaculture systems, aerosol and non-aerosol containers, fluid dispensing devices, packaging, various insect control technologies, cosmetic devices, numerous active and passive fragrance technologies, gaming systems, vaccine compositions, electronic healthcare management systems, and sporting equipment.
