Jeffrey Blackwood has practiced in the Jackson office for a years almost 30 years focusing on complex commercial litigation and securities matters. He has litigated cases on behalf of clients in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Jeffrey has decades of experience representing broker-dealers, registered investment advisory firms, and other companies and individuals before FINRA, NASD and the SEC, as well as the Mississippi Securities Division and other state securities regulations. These matters have included investigations, enforcement actions, arbitrations, and litigation in federal and state court. His recent work includes representation of a private equity firm in a complex breach of contract and fraud matter. He has represented a trust in litigation involving investment LLCs that was tried in Delaware Chancery Court; the client prevailed and was awarded attorneys’ fees. Jeffrey also recently obtained dismissal of a putative class action against a healthcare client in Mississippi federal court and obtained dismissal for a broker-dealer in a case alleging fraud, which was affirmed by the Miss. Supreme Court.

Jeffrey currently represents a national healthcare company in an action filed by the attorney general of Mississippi. Additionally, he has significant experience in representing life insurance companies in sales practices litigation, regulatory actions and professional negligence actions. Jeffrey currently represents a Fortune 500 company on a regional basis in breach of contract matters and also works with the client on implementing best practices to avoid litigation.

Jeffrey routinely speaks and writes on topics related to securities regulatory and enforcement matters and authored two chapters in the Encyclopedia of Mississippi Law, which he updates on an annual basis. He has been actively involved in pro bono matters while serving on Bradley’s Pro Bono Committee, and regularly volunteers with the Legal Clinic of Stewpot Community Services. Jeffrey is active in the Jackson community and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Downtown Jackson Partners.
