Profile

Mr. Jae Ho KWON is a partner at D&A LLC. His practice is primarily focused on Criminal & Compliance matters, Criminal Defense Litigation, Risk Advisory, Internal Investigations & Digital Forensics, Corporate Governance & Shareholder Disputes, and Antitrust & Competition.

Following his tenure as a Deputy Departmental Chief Prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Mr. Kwon joined D&A. During his service as a prosecutor, he handled numerous high-profile investigations and trials across a wide range of areas, including anti-corruption (special investigations) and financial crimes. Notably, he was among the first to be designated as a certified specialist prosecutor in the area of due process and warrant practice, overseeing compulsory investigations and unlawful investigative measures by law enforcement authorities. In addition to white collar crimes, he also handled numerous cases involving crimes against women and children while serving in a specialized unit for sexual offenses, thereby developing a broad spectrum of practical experience.

As an attorney, he has represented clients in high-stakes criminal matters handled by major investigative authorities, including special prosecutors and the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. He advises and defends clients throughout the entire investigative process, including large-scale search and seizure operations, digital forensics, and interviews of executives and employees for domestic conglomerates, global companies, and public institutions. Notably, in numerous pre-arrest detention hearings (substantive review of arrest warrants), which require sophisticated legal analysis and meticulous factual development, he has successfully secured denials of arrest warrants, enabling clients to be investigated and tried without detention.

In addition, to protect the core assets and interests of corporations and individuals, he takes a leading role in representing victims in cases involving embezzlement, breach of trust, fraud, and trade secret misappropriation. Drawing on his extensive experience accumulated in both investigative defense and victim-side representation, he provides comprehensive and strategic solutions across all stages of complex criminal matters, from the initial investigation through trial, particularly in high-stakes criminal cases involving white-collar crimes and regulatory or licensing issues affecting public officials, corporations, and individuals.

Building on his extensive experience in criminal practice, he is deeply involved in proactive risk management, helping corporations and individuals mitigate legal risks before they arise. His practice covers a broad range of matters, including compliance advisory and related disputes, the design and execution of internal investigations, responses to regulatory investigations by authorities such as the Korea Fair Trade Commission and the Korea Media and Communications Commission, and advisory and litigation in connection with management control disputes. He helps clients effectively manage legal risks in advance and provides prompt and practical solutions in times of crisis.

In addition, he has been invited to serve as a lecturer in criminal law for mandatory (special) training programs organized by the Korean Bar Association and the Seoul Bar Association, where he has delivered lectures on 'Practical Strategies for Responding to Search and Seizure,' covering recent case law and practical strategies for dealing with investigative authorities and court proceedings. His expertise is widely recognized within the legal community, with over 1,000 practicing lawyers having attended his lectures.
