Profile

Emily Chaidez is a Senior Counsel in the Firm's San Diego office and a member of the Litigation and Insurance Law practice groups. Ms. Chaidez represents clients at all stages of the litigation process, from pre-trial negotiations and maximizing insurance coverage to trial and appellate briefing. She has extensive litigation experience and has briefed several appellate cases throughout California regarding water rights, Local Agency Formation Commission dissolution proceedings, and short-term rental permit regulations. Ms. Chaidez has litigated a wide range of cases, including breach of contract actions, product liability matters, class-action matters, public works construction, writs, and eminent domain cases. She has also represented policyholders in seeking insurance coverage through federal declaratory judgment proceedings. A skilled litigator and negotiator, Ms. Chaidez has represented numerous clients in mediations as an alternative to proceeding to trial where such resolutions were feasible. In addition to assisting clients in obtaining coverage and resolving disputes both informally and through trial, Ms. Chaidez has represented public agencies in various capacities relating to governance, the Ralph M. Brown Act, California Public Records Act, and real estate matters, including both commercial real estate and eminent domain litigation.
