Eduardo Fernández Goñi is a partner in the practice area of corporate/commercial law and in the practice area of restructuring and insolvency in Garrigues's Barcelona office.

He provides recurring advice on restructuring processes and situations of financial distress, assisting debtors in situations of technical or imminent insolvency and defending Spanish and international creditors' interests in contractual relationships affected by distressed debt, insolvency or pre-insolvency proceedings. He has extensive experience in insolvency proceedings and debt restructuring in insolvency and pre-insolvency scenarios, as well as in the analysis and defense of clawback actions. In addition, he has participated in the negotiation and formalization of numerous refinancing agreements and subsequent procedures for their approval by the courts.

As part of the Distressed - Investment Funds team, he advises international hedge funds and other distressed operators on the sale and purchase of loan portfolios (performing and non-performing loans, whether or not secured with real estate assets), the sale and purchase of corporate debt, real estate assets or shares of insolvent (or near insolvent) companies, in both insolvency and pre-insolvency proceedings, as well as of operating production units. He also has experience in debt refinancing and restructuring of operations.
