Profile
Daniel Radler was a former member of the firm's governing Executive Committee and previously served as managing partner and as a section chair, worked directly with national practice group chairs and industry team leaders to help strengthen strategic areas of the firm. In addition to his J.D., Dan held degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Systems Engineering, which added a substantive level of technical knowledge to his grasp of IP law. Like engineers, he viewed patents and patent law from a practical, workable perspective, seeking solutions with the precision and integrity of a well-designed machine, operating at the intersection of technology and law.
Before he became an attorney, Dan spent several years designing and testing propulsion systems for advanced technology aircraft as an engineer at Northrop Corporation, and worked as a project manager designing and building automated materials handling systems. He advised clients on all aspects of intellectual property. Dan had particular practice strength in patent procurement, patent re-examinations, infringement and validity opinions, and licensing in a variety of disciplines, included materials handling equipment, heavy machinery, manufacturing and molding processes, fluid dynamics, printing technology, hydraulics, seals, bearings, and general mechanical and electro-mechanical devices.
Given his technical background, Dan was hardwired for troubleshooting and problem solving. He thought in terms of solutions rather than obstacles, and what others might find maddeningly complex, he considered fun. He helped his clients navigate IP issues according to their respective levels of knowledge of patents and patent laws, offering practical advice on how to define and then achieve their objectives.
