Professional Career

Significant Accomplishments

Mr. Thibeault has extensive and diverse experience in all legal aspects related to the organization of the healthcare network and the administration of public institutions and other organizations operating within it. He is particularly interested in the structure of the network and the management and internal organization of institutions and other organizations, both administratively and clinically. He regularly assists and advises these organisations on legislative and regulatory interpretation, medical affairs management, complaint handling, intermediate and family-type resources, access to information and personal information protection. He also represents these organisations before various civil and administrative tribunals.

Mr. Thibeault has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 2004. He also holds a Master's degree in Health Services Administration from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal since 2009 and is a member of the Ordre des administrateurs agréés du Québec. Before joining Lavery's health law team in 2014, he worked for four years in the health law team of the Montreal office of a large pan-Canadian law firm and previously served as a lawyer in the executive management of a health and social services network institution.

  • Advice and support for senior management, medical directors and professional services departments of healthcare institutions regarding the management of medical affairs
  • Advice and support for the various bodies involved in investigating complaints against doctors and imposing disciplinary measures, including councils of doctors, dentists, pharmacists and midwives and their committees
  • Advising and assisting medical clinics and healthcare professionals in the context of administrative investigations
  • Representation before civil and administrative courts
  • Drafting and reviewing various policies and procedures
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various contracts
  • Advising and assisting organisations in the context of coroners' inquiries and police investigations
