Aristides Anguizola is a Partner and heads the Corporate & Commercial Law practice area at Morgan & Morgan. He is also part of the Project Development & Public Procurement, Energy, and Mining & Natural Resources areas of practice.
He has over 15 years of experience in legal advice, having played a significant role in the development and financing of large infrastructure projects, such as Lines 2 and 3 of the Panama Metro, the Metro Bus public transport system, among others. He also participated as an important part of the legal team in the negotiation of a Renewed Concession Contract with the Government of Panama for the Cobre Panama project, which represents an investment of more than US$10 billion, this being the largest private investment in the history of Panama. Aristides frequently advises contractors and developers of projects, both in the public and private spheres; and as part of his experience in projects and public procurement, he also advised the Government of Panama in the drafting and approval of Law No. 93 of 2019 that established the framework regulation for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in Panama.
Aristides has participated in and led mergers and acquisitions in various industries, including food products, hospitality, mining, and others. In addition, Aristides has excelled in advising on insolvency and corporate reorganizations, including the reorganization of the airline Avianca, during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the area of securities, Aristides has had extensive experience in relation to the structuring of Real Estate Investment Companies (REITS) and other securities issuances. He has also participated as a speaker in various forums in relation to his experience in the field of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Law, as well as in the field of insolvency.
