Profile
Ana Carolina Castillo is a Partner and co-leads the Energy and Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) groups at Morgan & Morgan. She also has a prominent role in the Securities & Capital Markets, Banking & Finance, Antitrust & Consumer Protection, Corporate & Commercial Law and Administrative Law areas of practice.
She has over 10 years of experience advising investors, developers, and financial institutions, including multilateral organizations, on the development, acquisition, financing, construction, and operation of major power generation projects in Panama, including hydroelectric, wind, solar, and LNG combined-cycle facilities. Her legal advice integrates financial, regulatory, environmental, and commercial aspects, providing her with a comprehensive business perspective and enabling her to play a key role in negotiating complex contracts, including construction agreements and claims management under FIDIC models and international arbitration. In capital markets, she has participated in numerous transactions, including debt and equity issuances, cross-border issuances, thematic offerings, investment funds, securitizations, and REITs, advising issuers and arrangers across various industries such as energy, financial services, real estate, and retail.
Additionally, she advises clients on Corporate & Commercial matters, including strategic alliances and other commercial agreements, across industries such as energy, telecommunications, radio and television, ports, banking, among others. Ana Carolina has also played a notable role in mergers and acquisitions of important companies in the energy, banking, insurance, potable water, distribution of pharmaceutical products, and food sectors. Her cross-functional experience in Corporate, Financial, Energy, and ESG Law, enables her to guide clients in implementing sustainable and responsible practices, with a business-oriented approach that combines regulatory compliance with best practices, including sustainable finance strategies.
