Albalira Montufar is a Partner and leads the Immigration Law practice at Morgan & Morgan. With over 20 years of experience, she has advised individuals, families, and multinational companies from multiple industries in complex immigration processes.
She has led key projects involving the relocation of foreign personnel. Her expertise in immigration and labor law includes advising on visa applications, residence and work permits, naturalizations, and procedures under special regimes such as the Multinational Headquarters Companies (SEM, for its acronym in Spanish). She also provides specialized guidance in immigration processes related to the establishment of operations in Panama with foreign personnel. Her approach combines deep legal knowledge with strategic insight, aligning immigration goals with the operational and commercial objectives of each client.
Before joining the firm, Albalira was a partner at a well-known regional consulting firm, where she focused on labor and immigration law. This experience has allowed her to develop a comprehensive perspective that integrates corporate, tax, and labor considerations. Albalira has also advised the Executive Branch of Panama in drafting and reviewing immigration regulations, actively contributing to the country's legal development. She served as Chair of the Immigration Law Commission of the National Bar Association of Panama from 2019 to 2021 and has been a speaker at numerous conferences and specialized forums. Additionally, she and her team have contributed to the Panama chapter of the Chambers & Partners Global Corporate Immigration Law Guide for several consecutive years, including its inaugural edition.
